FAQ’s & Studio Policies

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions

I want to try pole dancing but I don't think I have enough upper body strength. Should I wait until I’m stronger or can I start now? Do I need to be in good shape to begin?
Pole dance is one of THE best and most fun ways to get in shape while improving the way you look and feel about your body. Our beginner level classes are accessible to everyone and are designed to develop your strength and technique in a linear fashion over the duration of your course. The best part is that you’ll be having so much fun, you’ll hardly notice what a great workout you’re getting!

Do I need to sign up beforehand or can I just show up?
We require preregistration for all of our series and drop-in classes and prepayment is required to book private lessons and private parties. You must sign up for series classes, lessons and private events a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Drop-ins should make sure there is room in their desired class -- any class that does NOT have space available is noted as "FULL" on our calendar. You can register for classes on our CLASSES page, our CLASS SCHEDULE page and our REGISTER page.

What should I wear?
Lots of layers! We keep the studio climate controlled so that once you've started moving around you will hopefully not get too sweaty to pole. Warm-up clothing should consist of pants, socks and a long sleeve top. After warm-up, shorts are required for pole work. Beginners can wear T-Shirts and tank tops, but Level II and above require exposed arms and midriffs for safety reasons. Many students like to dance in some sort of footwear: socks, toe-kinis (available for purchase), ballet slippers and heels are all great items for your feet. And kneepads should eventually make their way into your pole bag and are required for Low Flow and Exotic Flow. For the comfort and hygiene of all of our students, please make sure all of your bits are adequately covered.

What shouldn’t I wear?
Jewelry, lotion or especially oil! Please refrain from using any moisturizing products on your skin on the day of a pole class for safety reasons.

Can I wear heels?
Please! But we do not allow street shoes in the studio. We require your rubber soled dance heels to be reserved for the studio or the stage only so as not to bring dirt onto the floors we roll around on.

What should I bring to class?
Please bring a water bottle, proper studio attire, any pole grip aids you require. Many students like to take notes and/or videos.

How old do I have to be to take classes at The Aero Space?
You must be 18 to participate in any of our classes or have a waiver of liability co-signed by yourself and your parent/legal guardian along with an entry interview if you are underage.

Will there be any men in my class?
Possibly! The AERO Space is proud to be an equal opportunity studio and we encourage everyone to be a part of our community, regardless of their gender identity, race, ethnicity, ability, age, etc. If you have any concerns about being in a co-ed class, please speak to one of our staff before your course begins. We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable in the studio and we will do our best to accommodate you.

I have no dance background. Is that ok? Will I be able to keep up?
Yes and yes! Our classes are designed to teach the absolute beginner how to gracefully and fluidly move around, up and down the pole from day one.

What if I miss a class?
We allow 1 makeup per 4 week series and 2 makeups per 6 week series (these expire 2 weeks after your series end date). To receive a makeup, you must register via email at least 24 hours in advance after you've missed your class -- you may not reserve makeups for classes you have not missed yet. Students may attend any class that is not marked "FULL" on our calendar and is appropriate for their level. Makeup drop ins are on a first come first served basis and are subject to being bumped for full fee paying students.

Studio policies

Registration
We require preregistration for all series classes, private lessons, workshops and recommend it for drop ins, as well. We require payment/deposit at least 24 hours in advance to register for series classes, to schedule private lessons and private parties. We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice to schedule makeups. See our makeup policy. We do not require/accept registration for Open Studio.

Late Arrivals
If you are more than 5 minutes late to class, it is up to your instructor whether you will be allowed to join the class and participate or not. Pole dance is a demanding sport and time for an adequate warm-up is necessary to ensure every precaution is taken to prevent injuries. Please make an effort to be on time.

Non-Members
People who are not currently members of The AERO Space are strictly prohibited from entering the member studio outside of regular class times without explicit owner permission. Members who are found to be in violation of this policy will have their membership immediately revoked and their deposit will be forfeited. No exceptions.

Payments
Payment is due in full by the start of your class, course or monthly membership. Students will not be allowed to participate and members will not have access to the building if there is a balance due on their account.

Refunds
All sales are final. Students enrolled in a class or series may request a class change or a credit up to 48 hours before their course starts. Credits must be used within 6 months. Students scheduled for private lessons must cancel at least 24 hours in advance or they will be charged the full rate of the lesson. Private Party deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to studio credit or issued as Gift Certificates if cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled party. We do not offer refunds.

Discounts
In addition to our regular member discounts we also offer a student discount of 5% to students (a valid ID is required to qualify) and a 10% discount to anyone enrolling in multiple courses at one time (courses must overlap by 2 weeks or more). We often run specials advertised through social media so be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook. Discounts are at the discretion of the studio and may be changed at any time.

Makeups
We allow 1 makeup per 4 week series and 2 makeups per 6 week series. Makeups expire 2 weeks after your series end date. To receive a makeup, you must register via email at least 24 hours in advance after you've missed your class (you may not reserve makeups for classes you have not missed yet). Students may attend any class that is not marked "FULL" on our calendar and is appropriate for their level. Makeups have no cash value and may not be used to prorate a series. Makeup drop ins are on a first come first served basis and are subject to being bumped for full fee paying students. We do not allow extensions to your makeups. Prorated series are not eligible for allotted makeups.
